Progress Summary: November 1 - November 30, 2021

  • Capitol Paving of DC. Inc. continued construction activities on Pennsylvania Ave SE between 4th street and 6th street and between 7th Street and 13th Street.

  • The work hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm—Monday to Friday.

  • The contractor has set up and placed the approved MOT signs before starting the daily construction activity.

  • Street parking is restricted in the work zone, and a temporary travel-lane closure begins at 9:30 am. At the end of each workday, temporary signs and traffic control devices are removed to allow traffic to operate in normal conditions.

  • Tree guards are installed for the protection of the trees.

  • Plastic barrier fences are used on the sidewalk side, and drums are on the roadway for the safety of the pedestrians, bicycle, and vehicular traffic.

  • The full width of the sidewalk is available for pedestrians and businesses during construction.

  • Flaggers are assigned to assist the pedestrians and vehicular traffic at the intersection(s).

  • The work activities include road saw cutting, trench excavation, excavation for utility manholes, conduit installation, backfilling, road base, and temporary asphalt. Foundation work for streetlights, stranded wire grounded and stranded wire of different gauges.

  • Capitol Paving continue construction activities on Pennsylvania Ave SE between 4th Street and 6th Street and between 7th Street and 13th Street EB and WB.

  • All underground work has been completed at Pennsylvania Avenue SE mainline from 2nd Street to 13th Street, except for the 600 block which will be done Mid December.

  • Intersection work has been completed up to 6th Street and started intersection work on 7th Street

  • All TTC Signs at WZ have been inspected to ensure compliance.

  • Inspected all Tree Protection wire fencing installation for compliance along Pennsylvania Ave. SE from 2nd St. to 14th St. EB and WB.

  • Monitored MOT placement along Pennsylvania Ave. SE from 2nd Street to 6th Street. And 7th Street to 13th Street.

  • Conducted survey of structure layout for manholes, streetlight, cabinets, signal poles, lamp posts on Pennsylvania Ave. from 7th Street to 13th Street EB and WB.

  • Conducted saw cuts and excavations for conduit trenches, streetlight and signal pole structures, laterals, and manholes.

  • Conducted soil and GAB backfill and compaction, PCC placement for base utility cuts and encased conduits.

  • Installed wheelchair-bicycle ramps.

  • Installed streetlight, signal and cabinet foundations, steel transformer bases, and manholes.

  • Removed streetlight poles, relocated of traffic signal poles from one foundation to another, relocated traffic signal head on to temporary pole assembly, installed light poles and signal poles.

  • Monitored paving marking and striping activities at Pennsylvania Ave SE and 2nd Street intersection.
